Roger Daltrey is struggling to sing them.

The Who have racked up countless sales and awards since their first Top 10 hit I Can’t Explain in 1965 – but, 45 years on, Roger admits being the older generation is finally catching up with him and guitarist Pete Townshend.

The Who play a special performance of their classic 1973 album Quadrophenia at London’s Royal Albert Hall on March 30 in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, the charity Roger is a patron of.

And the frontman reckons it might be the last time he ever performs its songs live.

“We’re getting to the age now where this might be the last time we’re physically able to play these songs,” Roger said

“The years are catching up, and some of Quadrophenia’s songs I’m not able to sing particularly comfortably.

“My health is as good as I could expect for a man of 66 – but the voice ages a lot quicker than the rest of the body, which is bloody annoying.”

The Who have reminded us what a great live band they are with their appearance live at the Superbowl doing the theme tune to CSI . There is a great video of their appearance on the BBC website . The Who have just released a live greatest hits album. I already have most of the tracks on the album except for the Quadraphenia tracks and Eminence Front. I bought Quadraphenia when it came out back in the 70s on vinyl . It was probably the last great album from the band . Eminence Front is a great track driven along by a simple riff from Townsend which slowly builds the tension throughout the song .
